Well you’re probably reading this blog because you just got engaged so Congratulations!! We love doing blogs on Top 10 things know, so stay tuned for more! But for now, we are here to prepare you for your big day…Finding your Dream Dress.
Before you start shopping we’ve got a list of Top 10 things to know before your first bridal appointment.
1. Know Your Budget
It’s always good to set a budget before your bridal appointment. You have to keep in mind your not only shopping for a dress but also bridal accessories like your veil and hairpiece to go with your dress.
2. Do Your Research
With so many different styles around it’s good to look at bridal magazines or follow bridal pages like ours 😉 Or even watch bridal shows just to see what’s in the market. It will also help you narrow down what you like and don’t like.
3. Bring a Support System
When trying on a dress it’s always good to have someone with you who is like minded and knows your style well. It could be your maid of honor or your sister , or even your mom but be sure to carry a tissue as we are sure there are gonna be waterworks along the way .
4. Carry Your Wedding Shoes
A lot of brides forget this point. It’s always good to shop for your wedding shoes before you buy your dress just so that you get your alterations done right. You don’t want a dress that’s to short just because you wanted to wear your Louboutins.
5. Wear the right Shapewear
By Shapeware we don’t mean jeans! Carry or wear your right undergarments for your appointment. This makes it easier to try on the dress and you will get a better idea of how the dress best fits you.
6. Wear Little or No Make-up
You got to keep in mind dresses are very expensive and a small makeup stain or a lipstick mark will be very hard to take off especially if you are buying from a bridal shop where most dresses are ready made and are ready to be sold .
7. Keep an Open Mind
Another important tip on our top 10 things know is that you may not find the dress you always envisioned for yourself, so it’s good to keep an open mind for your appointment. At the same time it’s important to have an idea of what your style is and what you are comfortable in.
8. Ask Questions
It’s good to find out more about your wedding dress before wearing it on your wedding day. Ask your stylist questions like How to bustle your dress? or How to tie your corset? It always helps to know way ahead so that on your wedding day you are well prepared.
9. Do Not shop with the Groom
If you are a traditional bride you would know that in the bridal world it’s considered taboo to shop with your husband to be. Like most die hard romantics we would love to see the groom shed a tear at the altar looking at his bride for the first time. So keep it a Surprise!
10. Knowing when you’ve found the One
No matter what people tell you about the dress you try on, you will know best when you get that right feeling. Say Yes to the Dress when you feel comfortable and happy with your choice.
We hope this blog on the Top 10 things to know before you head out bridal shopping will help you find your dream dress. Good Luck and Happy Shopping 🙂
